Greatest
musical accomplishment:
Playing with Cornelius Bumpus, sax player, from
the Doobie Brothers and opening for April Wine.
Phil AKA “Chunky” is not only a phenomenal bassist; he is a soundman,
roadie, and knows how to fix carburetors
like no ones business. Of course, all of the extra
stuff is just icing on the cake next to his musical
ability.
If you asked him who most influenced his love
for music, he would say his stepfather who gave
him his first taste of “real” music
at a very young age. In fact, it was at the age
of 15 that Phil first began to play an instrument
and has been doing so ever since. His first gig
as a bassist was with a band called Rockbound
followed in later years by Chunky Tuesday and
the Digital Chickens, Pandora Blue & Bucket
of Mud, but he says that Lipshok is by far the
most fun he has had in a band.
The craziest thing that has ever happened to him
at a gig was when he ran out into traffic in a
Longs parking lot while playing a bass solo. His
other interests include playing computer games,
recording the human experience, and of course
his beautiful wife and son.
